Cathedral
Gallery is housed in
one of the oldest buildings in Tideswell, which, from circa
1746 to 1816, was the 'House of Correction' and in more
recent years a Portuguese Restaurant.
2006 saw its conversion to an
Art & Craft Gallery, which opened in May. The building, with
its quaint, uneven, walls and beamed ceilings, creates a
wonderful back drop for the work of many talented artists
and craft workers, mostly, from around the British Isle.
Showcased in the gallery is a
comprehensive
range of art & craft from 'home grown' talent
along with a few internationally famous artists.
Nationally and internationally
known artists include Doug Hyde, Sheree Valentine-Daines,
Duncan Mcgregor and Charlotte Atkinson, these being
complemented with the talents of many amateur and
semi-professional artists which include Maureen Howard, June
Fox, Jan Morris and Heather Parry-Young. |
